Five Tips for Client Invoicing

May 30, 2018

You work hard for your money, so naturally, client invoicing is going to be a part of your business. Here are tips to help make the billing and invoicing process smoother:

1. Invoice detail Your invoices should contain enough detail so that it’s clear what you are billing. A lack of detail can cause a severe amount of contention between an attorney and their client.

2. Making paying easy Including a variety of payment options allows your clients flexibility in how they make payments. The more convenient it is for them, the more likely it is for you to get paid.

3. Record time immediately – The longer you wait to record your time, the murkier the detail gets. Taking a little bit of time in your busy day will help avoid confusion later when your client receives their bill.

4. Open communication – Make sure you keep an open line of communication between you and your client. Inevitably, there will be instances where the matter becomes more complex and additional work will be required. Letting your clients know ahead of time about any unforeseen expenses will save you a headache when you send them a bill later.

5. Hire LBSI – A lot of time and effort goes into making sure you process all the invoices correctly. You may not have the financial background or care to deal with the financial side of your business. Hire LBSI to help keep your accounting in order.
